Jasper Coffee is now 100% Carbon Neutral

After three years of research, auditing, probing and prodding, we are pleased to be able to finally announce that Jasper Coffee is now a 100% Carbon Neutral Coffee Company.
In 2006 we completed a sustainability audit from Sustainability Victoria, Victoria's peak government body on environmental sustainability. This audit helped us streamline our packaging and reduce waste and water use in roasting

The audit was only the first step in our vision to become champions for sustainable practices. The past 3 years have been spent researching sustainability measures which have included calculating our footprint to lower our emissions with the vision of working towards carbon neutrality.
That vision has now been realised.

It is an expensive operation to undertake to become a Carbon Neutral Company. There are real dollars that must be paid to account for all the carbon that is not able to be offset through reductions alone.
The culture inside our organisation reflects our outward views. Climate change, caused by human activity is having a real effect. There is overwhelming evidence to show that global warming is threatening the livelihoods of millions who depend on the cultivation of coffee for their livelihoods.

By joining the fight against climate change and becoming a 100% Carbon Neutral Coffee Company we are leading the way in creating a sustainable future. We haven’t just certified one of our products, or dipped a tentative toe in the Carbon Neutral waters to see how it goes. We have dived in head first by offsetting 100% of our outstanding greenhouse gas emissions by purchasing and retiring verified carbon offsets generated by the Karnataka Renewable Energy Project in India. Through this project we are actually reducing air pollution and improving the livelihood of the local population.
